Police in Los Lagos, Chile, have arrested 14 people in connection with stealing 25 tonnes of stolen salmon, reports Bio-Bio Chile.

A vessel “Don Patricio” was intercepted off the coast of Quell√≥n was sized before it could make off with Aquachile’s salmon.

The publication noted that police has been moniteering the supects for a month becire the made the arrest.

Castro’s maritime governor¬†Javier Mardones said it was a “great blow” to the indstry and area because of the unprecedented amount in the Los Lagos region. “It’s been a long time since there was anything like this,” said Mardones.

Two of the 14 men arrested have warrants for different crimes, while the boat remains impounded.
