Authorities seize 25 tonnes of stolen salmon

Fish belonged to AquaChile. “It’s been a long time since there was anything like this”.

Police in Los Lagos, Chile, have arrested 14 people in connection with stealing 25 tonnes of stolen salmon, reports Bio-Bio Chile.

A vessel “Don Patricio” was intercepted off the coast of Quellón was sized before it could make off with Aquachile’s salmon.

The publication noted that police has been moniteering the supects for a month becire the made the arrest.

Castro’s maritime governor Javier Mardones said it was a “great blow” to the indstry and area because of the unprecedented amount in the Los Lagos region. “It’s been a long time since there was anything like this,” said Mardones.

Two of the 14 men arrested have warrants for different crimes, while the boat remains impounded.
