Salmon farmer wanted to increase production.

BioBio Chile reports that that the Chilean salmon farmer Salmones Camanchaca has to resubmit nine environmental impact statements.

The company wanted to expand and modify sites to increase production in Chiloe, Southern Chile. However, in light of recent algae mortalities, the Regional Council of Los Lagos told Salmones Camanchaca that it had to go redo and rephrase the paperwork.

Salmones Camanchaca has an estimated harvest of around 55,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon for 2021-2022. The company expects to reach 70,000 tonnes of salmonids in 2023.
