Bakkafrost Q1 salmon harvest up, with 3.2 million smolt released in Faroes

Bakkafrost reports Q1 harvest volumes of 25,200 tonnes across Faroe Islands and Scotland.

Bakkafrost harvested a total of 25,200 tonnes (HOG) of salmon across its operations in the Faroe Islands and Scotland during the first quarter of 2025, the company said in a trading update released Tuesday.

This was five percent above the expected slaughter volume, according to Fearnley Securities.

In the Faroe Islands, total Q1 harvest volumes reached 18,900 tonnes, with an average fish weight of 5.1 kg. In Scotland, the harvest totalled 6,300 tonnes, with a higher average weight of 6.7 kg.

Incident-based mortality costs were DKK 8 million ($1.12 million) in Scotland and zero in the Faroe Islands.

Bakkafrost released 3.2 million smolt in the Faroe Islands and 0.6 million in Scotland during the quarter.

In its fishmeal, oil and feed (FOF) division, the company sourced 109,500 tonnes of marine raw material and sold 31,300 tonnes of feed. Sales of fishmeal totalled 3,600 tonnes, while no fish oil sales were recorded during the quarter.
