BioMar Chile has attained Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) feed certification for its three production sites located in Ercilla, Pargua, and Castro, marking a milestone in its commitment to sustainable aquaculture practices.
The certification, achieved through a multi-site process, covers feed production for Atlantic salmon, Coho salmon, and trout.
“This achievement strengthens our leadership in feed production and reaffirms our commitment to responsible practices and ecosystem care,” said Gabriela Heim, Commercial Manager at BioMar Chile.
ASC, an organization focused on promoting responsible aquaculture, sets rigorous standards through its Feed Standard, which addresses social and labor rights, environmental management, and sustainable sourcing. This certification aligns BioMar’s production processes with global sustainability standards, ensuring ASC-certified feed options for salmon producers in Latin America.
Cristian Dominik, Quality and Formulation Manager at BioMar Chile, highlighted the certification’s value for customers, saying, “Our goal is to provide salmon farmers with feed that meets the highest global sustainability standards, helping them strengthen their position in an evolving market.”
ASC’s Feed Engagement Manager, Aisla Jones, also commented on the certification, noting that it offers Chilean salmon farmers local access to ASC-compliant feed, an essential advantage as the October 2025 deadline approaches for ASC-certified farms to secure ASC-compliant feed.
Dominik added that BioMar’s commitment goes beyond standard compliance, emphasizing a focus on innovation and collaboration to support sustainable and ethical production practices.
