Camanchaca chief executive, Ricardo Garcia Holtz, has been elected president of industry advocacy SalmonChile by a boardroom vote of of the Chilean Salmon Marketing Council meeting in Santiago, MundoAcuicola.cl has reported.
He’ll replace Arturo Clement who’ll stay on as secretary.
Holtz will likely be expected to lead the march of Chilean salmon in the United States, where the Council has ramped up sales and market activities. The US market absorbs 30 percent of Chilean salmon production, the Web site wrote.
“This is a strategic challenge for the Chilean salmon industry, which seeks a high positioning of our product in North America, our main market, and which should translate into an increase in the value of the industry,” Holtz was quoted as saying.
