Grieg Seafood CEO Andreas Kvame steps down after a decade.
Grieg Seafood ASA announced late Sunday that Andreas Kvame is stepping down as CEO after ten years in the role. The company has begun the search for his successor.
Nina Willumsen Grieg, currently Regional Director of Grieg Seafood Rogaland, has been appointed interim CEO. Kvame will support the transition process.
In line with corporate governance practices, Per Grieg Jr. is stepping down as Chair of the Board and will remain as an ordinary board member. Vice-Chair Paal Espen Johnsen has assumed the role of Chair until the next General Meeting.
‘We admit that the last couple of years haven’t been that good for us’
The leadership changes come as Grieg Seafood proceeds with a financial transformation program announced in February. The strategy focuses on narrowing the company’s operations to its core regions in Rogaland and Finnmark, with the aim of restoring profitability and achieving long-term growth in the Norwegian market.
Nina Willumsen Grieg has worked in executive and operational roles at Grieg Seafood for a decade. She has led the Rogaland region since 2020.
“Andreas Kvame has led Grieg Seafood for a decade,” said Chair Paal Espen Johnsen. “During his time as CEO, he has set the agenda for and executed the successful post-smolt strategy. He has played an instrumental role in developing Grieg Seafood into an international fish farming company with integrated operations.”
“The strategic direction for the company remains firm. The work is ongoing, and I am confident that the measures will yield results. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Andreas for his contributions over the years,” Johnsen said.
Kvame commented: “It has been a true privilege to lead Grieg Seafood for more than 10 years. A main priority has been the development of post-smolt production, which I strongly believe will play an important part in the future of the entire salmon farming industry.”
He added: “Currently it is a challenging time for Grieg Seafood. As a result of the financial transformation program initiated, the company has been stabilised financially and is positioned to take the measures needed for operational improvements. I wish my successor the best of luck and believe Grieg Seafood has a bright future ahead.”
Grieg Seafood is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and operates salmon farms in Rogaland and Finnmark, Norway, as well as British Columbia and Newfoundland in Canada.
