The Chilean Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of salmon famers Invermar and Skyring Salmon against the rejection of their expansion plans in 2009.

According to the Court the companies did not complete the procedure to modify their respective aquaculture concessions, despite having been expressly instructed to do so by the undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (subpesca). Therefore, the undersecretariat had every right to refuse to grant the requested farming licences, reports Aqua.

The same ruling was done earlier by the Court of Appeals of Valparaiso. This was the last possible appeal for the salmon companies.
