Moen Marin to deliver hybrid feed and service vessel to Cooke Scotland

Moen Marin has secured an order from Cooke Scotland for a new multi-purpose vessel designed to support both feeding and service operations at exposed aquaculture sites in the Orkney Islands.

The vessel, a NabWork 1785, was developed in collaboration with Marin Design and Cooke Scotland, and is scheduled to enter operation by June 2026. Built with a single steel hull, the design allows for rapid conversion between feeding and service functions.

Cooke Scotland, part of the family-owned Cooke Aquaculture group, is the largest producer of organic Scottish salmon. The company plans to deploy the vessel at some of its most weather-exposed sites.

The on-board feeding system, supplied by ScaleAQ, includes four silos with a total capacity of 60 m³. The silos can be removed and replaced with a deck hatch to enable service work.

Robin Johansen, UK sales manager at Moen Marin, said the vessel is tailored for conditions where remote feeding and monitoring are not always feasible. “It is designed specifically for efficient production of premium salmon in challenging environments,” he said.

According to Cooke Scotland’s area manager for the Orkney North Isles, Stewart Rendall, the vessel is expected to replace two existing boats currently used at the site. “It can carry more feed, deliver it more quickly, and complete feeding operations across the site in a single day without returning to shore,” he said.
