Crew detained after police discover six tonnes of undocumented salmon onboard

Crew arrested for allegedly nicking fish from different salmon farms at Puerto Montt, Chile.

Fifteen crew members have been detained and charged after authorities patrolling the area discovered that their ship was loaded with more than six tonnes of salmon. The men – believed to be from Puerto Montt – were not being able to prove their origin, reports Radio Sago.

Port captain Felipe González explained that all the crew of the vessel were arrested and charged with theft.

The fish are being tested and farms in the area are being asked to verify if any salmon are missing from their sites.
