Dutch offshore oil and gas engineering outfit, De Maas SMC, has designed a semi-submersible salmon farm for Chinese clients, Fujian Fuding Seagull Fishing Food Co., the offshore outfit’s Web page has revealed.

A Fuding Government Investment grant is making the project possible, after De Maas signed a heads-of agreement this past summer that included Fujian Shipbuilding Industrial Group Company Ltd, the Fuding government and Fuding Seagull Fishing. De Maas will supervise construction at the shipyard.

De Mass has tailor-made and supervised construction of a number of offshore energy installations for both wind and petroleum projects. Now it’s time for a fish-farming semisub, the SSFF 300.

“Total investment value is (EUR 123.3 million and) includes five new built SSFF300 and farming costs,” a statement said.

The deal was co-organized by Ningde Government and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Fujian Province. With so much China business, De Maas SMC has set up offices in Qingdao and Hong Kong.
