Crew member died doing structural work at salmon farm in Chile.
Aqua.cl reports that on Wednesday, a member of the anchoring service provider Walbusch was killed in a work-related accident while performing structural installation work at Multiexport’s “Taraba 3” salmon farm, in Puerto Natales, Magallanes, Chile.
The professional diver’s name was Arturo Sigisfredo Vera Alvear.
“As soon as we were informed of the event, the contingency plan was activated with the Navy and we contacted the corresponding authorities in the region,” Multiexport wrote in a statement. They have asked Walbusch for “all the information regarding this unfortunate accident, for have total certainty of what happened and establish actions to follow”.
In addition, he stressed that on behalf of Multiexport, “we express our deep regret over what happened and send our deepest condolences to Arturo’s family, friends and co-workers.”
