Smoke was sighted on the vessel, prompting immediate action from fire, police, and ambulance services

An incident aboard a vessel docked at Norwegian salmon farmer Nordlaks’ Langøya base, prompted swift action from emergency services on Thursday.

Addressing the event on Facebook, Nordlaks remarked, “Occasionally, things don’t go as planned.” The company detailed that on Thursday afternoon, smoke was sighted on the vessel, prompting immediate action from fire, police, and ambulance services at the Sandnes base on Langøya.

Three employees were exposed to smoke during the incident and received medical assessment at the emergency department. They were promptly discharged, and Nordlaks’ staff resumed their duties on Friday.

Authorities confirmed the presence of heavy smoke but no flames. Nordlaks is actively investigating the incident, and until the cause is determined and rectified, the affected vessel will remain out of operation.

The company conveyed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift response and dedication.

Although specifics about the vessel’s type were not disclosed, the boat is believed to have been docked at the time of the incident.
