A marine-based steelhead trout producer in Atlantic Canada is at the forefront of a selective breeding program designed to advance the development of the steelhead trout industry in the region.
Ocean Trout Canada of Halifax, Nova Scotia has signed a Letter of Intent with Huntsman Marine Science Centre of New Brunswick to jointly develop a broodstock program.

The initiative is believed to be the first genetics development program in Atlantic Canada that’s focused on steelhead trout.
The selective breeding program will address growth rates, specific climate conditions, and other quality attributes crucial in steelhead trout farming.
