Europe’s largest seafood restaurant chain Nordsee appoints new CCO

New executive position.

Food Service writes that Nordsee has appointed a new Chief Commercial Officer Mike Schwanke. As of 1 July, Schwanke took over in the areas of marketing, category management, purchasing as well as quality and sustainability management.

The seafood chain, which sources farmed salmon from Scottish, Irish and Norwegian waters, generates over EUR 350 million a year through its 374 locations, making it Europe’s leading provider. It is the third most popular eatery in Germany after Burger King and McDonald’s.

Schwanke was former TUI Cruises’ Director of Sales. Most recently, Schwanke was hygiene and cleaning supplier Müller’s head of marketing and digital.

Founded in 1896, the chain was sold to investment firm Kharis Capital in 2018.

Last year, SalmonBusiness reported that Nordsee had appointed new CEO Carsten Horn and that it was rolling out a Go! Concept franchise system in new stores across Europe. A spokesperson from the company would not comment to SalmonBusiness if that it still the case now post-pandemic.
