British Columbian steel cage maker builds Chilean team.

Poseidon Ocean Systems has appointed Mauricio Cerda as commercial manager of Latin American operations.

Cerda will be responsible for sales team leadership as well as general management responsibilities for the expansion of Poseidon’s operations within Latin America.

He joins Poseidon with nearly 20 years of experience in the aquaculture industry in Chile. His previous role was technical manager at the Italian net maker Badinotti. He has also had stints at AKVA and Mowi (when it was called Marine Harvest).

The company announced that it was expanding its offerings to the Chilean market in June.

Poseidon’s aquaculture steel cage system is engineered for aggressive waters. They are used by Cermaq off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. Loch Duart has also chosen Trident’s Hybrid Steel Cage for its sites in North West Scotland.

“We are thrilled to have Mauricio join our team as he brings with him extensive experience and a localized approach on relationship development. We are confident that the combination of Mauricio’s focus on customer support and our company’s focus on innovation, will quickly build trust with the Poseidon brand within this market,” said Poseidon CEO Matt Clarke in a press release.
