Former SalMar employee takes the helm at ScaleAQ

Audun Sivertsen Fjeldvær has been appointed as the new CEO of Norwegian aquaculture equipment supplier ScaleAQ, effective August 19, 2024.

Fjeldvær, who has been with ScaleAQ since 2013, has held several leadership positions within the company, including most recently as head of the company’s largest division, ScaleAQ Seabased. He also brings firsthand experience from the salmon farming industry, having worked as a shift leader for SalMar.

ScaleAQ, headquartered in Trondheim, is a rapidly growing company with 900 employees across 33 locations in eight countries. The company has reported solid growth and sees opportunities to double or even triple its business.

In a press release, Fjeldvær expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing the importance of continuing ScaleAQ’s strong collaboration with customers and maintaining the company’s focus on profitable and sustainable salmon farming.

“I am looking forward to starting the job as CEO. ScaleAQ is an important partner for our customers. We develop technology and deliver products and solutions that are critical for profitable and sustainable salmon farming,” said Fjeldvær.

Torgeir Svae, chairman of ScaleAQ, praised Fjeldvær’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry’s needs, particularly in areas such as fish welfare and sustainability.

The company announced that Sigurd Flaat Liljefjell will take over as the head of ScaleAQ Seabased, succeeding Fjeldvær. Liljefjell, has been with the company since 2018 and has served as CFO of Seabased since 2023.

Svein Vestermo, who had been serving as interim CEO since November last year, will now continue in his role as CFO and as a member of ScaleAQ’s group management.
