Former Scottish Salmon Company-owned Harris & Lewis Smokehouse restaurant will not reopen

Smokehouse and restaurant has applied to be dissolved.

The directors of Harris & Lewis Smokers Trading have made an application to be struck off and dissolved from Companies House.

The facility was 100 per cent taken into Bakkafrosts’ ownership in 2019 when the Faroese salmon farmer acquired all of Scottish Salmon Company’s assets. The nature of Harris & Lewis Smokers Trading is listed as dormant.

The restaurant and cafe served Harris & Lewis Smoked Scottish Salmon which were filleted, hand-cured, smoked and packaged in Stornoway by artisanal Smokers, on the Isle of Lewis.

In June, Harris & Lewis Smokers posted on its Facebook page that it had made the “difficult decision” not to reopen the Harris & Lewis Smokehouse Restaurant following its closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are currently consulting with affected employees and, where possible, will look for opportunities to redeploy them elsewhere in the business.

The smokehouse will continue to run as a development facility, it wrote.
