Former Young’s Seafood and Dawnfresh senior expert joins Lidl salmon processor as CSR & technical director

Manideep Sandupatla joins chilled fish supplier Copernus.

One of the UK’s largest suppliers of chilled fish has announced the appointment of an industry leading expert as CSR & Technical Director at its headquarters in Hull.

As well as its own Hooked on Fish selection, Copernus processes salmon for Lidl’s Lighthouse Bay own brand. Earlier in the year, the company said it was targeting sales of GBP 100 million as it “rides the growth wave of its primary customer”.

Manideep Sandupatla joins Copernus from Samworth Brothers, whose consumer brands include the Cornish pasty favourite Ginsters, malt loaf Soreen, the West Cornwall Pasty Co and sports nutrition brand SCI-MX.

Sandupatla has held senior technical roles at major seafood companies including Young’s Seafood, Associated Seafood, Cumbrian Seafood and Dawnfresh Seafood.

The creation of this new role follows a sustained period of significant growth at Copernus.

Increased volume and the construction of an extension at the east coast site will be managed by Sandupatla to meet the businesses’ growth and strategic objectives.

His role and expertise will be crucial in supporting with the further development of our business operations, as well as the execution of our long-term growth strategy” said Copernus managing director Dean Simpson.
