Mowi Scotland says minor diesel spilt from vessel operating at its Kyleakin feed plant’s harbour area.

Press and Journal reports that SEPA, the coastguard and Police Scotland were informed of an incident early on Thursday in Kyleakin, Scotland.

A diesel odour was reported to Mowi by a local resident late evening on March 31. This was due to a “minor diesel spill from a vessel operating in the Kyleakin Feed Plant’s harbour area”, Mowi Operations Director for Europe and Feed Division Claes Jonermark told the publication.

He added that booms and a pollution skimming device had been in use to clear the affected area of the pollution. “Diesel oil and seawater recovered during the pollution control operations will be disposed of in accordance with specialist waste handling procedures.”

Mowi Scotland added that it is aiding authorities with the investigation regarding the root cause of the spill.
