Norwegian salmon farmer Grieg Seafood has announced the appointment of Magnus Johannesen as its new Global Finance Officer, effective October 1, 2024.

In this role, Johannesen will focus on developing the company’s finance group, supporting the CFO in financial and business decision-making, and aligning financial strategies with the company’s broader business objectives, according to a LinkedIn post from the company last week.

Johannesen joins Grieg Seafood from Frydenbø Group, where he served as Group Chief Investment Officer, overseeing capital efficiency, M&A processes, and strategic initiatives across various divisions.

His previous experience also includes a role as Interim CFO at Rexir Holding AS, where he managed a substantial real estate portfolio, and as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, specializing in internal audit and global-scale risk management.

Atle Harald Sandtorv, CFO of Grieg Seafood, expressed confidence in Johannesen’s appointment, stating, “Magnus’s extensive experience and leadership will drive continued growth and excellence within our organization. His insights and strategic approach will be invaluable as we navigate future opportunities in the seafood industry.”

Johannesen added, “I am eager to join the Grieg Seafood team and contribute to shaping one of Norway’s most important future industries. Grieg Seafood’s values resonate strongly with my own, and I look forward to participating in exciting projects ahead.”

Grieg Seafood expects Johannesen’s leadership to significantly bolster its financial strategies as the company continues to pursue growth in the sustainable aquaculture sector.
