A shorter week and smaller harvest means that the salmon price will stay at a stable high level.
“We hear talk about prices between NOK 72 and NOK 73. Quite stable. Perhaps a small upturn,” says a market player SalmonBusiness spoke to.
He says that, because of only four harvesting days this week, there is not a lot of fish in the market. But that is as expected.
His estimate fits well with what other sources SalmonBusiness has spoken to. Most people are talking about prices over NOK 70.
Flat
“We expect the price to remain stable compared to last week. About 72 kroner,” a trader says.
SalmonBusiness industrial sources refer to the following price levels (packaged fish FOB breeder) for next week for the most traded weight classes:
- 69 NOK 3-4 kilos
- 71 NOK 4-5 kilos
- 73 NOK 5-6 kilos
- 75 NOK 6+ kilos
Somewhat lower expectations
An exporter SalmonBusiness has been in contact with, thinks he expects about somewhat lower prices.
“67 NOK 3-4, 70 NOK 4-5 and 73 NOK 6+. There are still fish in the market,” he says, before adding:
“We have bought a good deal, but we’re still not completely finished.”
