Sánchez is Chile’s most capped player and its all-time top goalscorer.

BioBioChile reports the star footballer Alexis Sánchez is fronting and promoting Chilean salmon in an advertising campaign.

Sánchez, who plays for the national team as well as Inter Milan, is in an ad called “Unboxing Chile” that seeks to highlight “the diverse sensations that occur when opening a box of national food”.

The initiative from the government export agency ProChile is a joint work between the public and private sectors. The Chilean salmon trade organisation SalmonChile is participating, as well as the Wines Guild of Chile and ChileCarne.

“We hope that this campaign will show the talent of southern Chile, increase our country’s knowledge of world markets and project us as a world-class food exporter. We hope to be able to transmit the virtuous experience of Chile’s food products in the world, especially its salmon, and surprise our consumers with sustainable products of excellent quality,” said the SalmonChile president Arturo Clément.

Sánchez has played for Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and is currently at Inter Milan.
