The plant was launched on the 28th of August, but was inaugurated last week in the town of Saint-Geours-de-Maremne.
“It is the finest salmon cutting unit in the world,” Jacques Trottier, the Labeyrie CEO, said. Laybeyrie is a French company that produces and markets gourmet food products in Europe, as well as being one of the largest smokehouses.
According to Sudouest, the unit will allow the brand to consolidate its market share in France (25 percent) on the premium segment, but also to continue its export development to Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
This project was started two years ago, and the factory in the south west of France now has a total of 7000 m² of space and employs 250 people (rising to 700 in high season).
