Largest aquaculture conference in Canadian history finally a go

After two postponements, WAS North America & Aquaculture Canada 2022 conference and trade show will finally go on as planned from August 15 – 18, 2022 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

To be held under the theme, “Aquaculture: The Leading Edge of Food Production,” the event represents the first joint meetings of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), Aquaculture Association of Canada (AAC) and NL Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA).

It is also the largest conference and trade show in over 20 years in Canada on the science, business and technology of aquaculture.

“This meeting will celebrate the progress and cutting-edge innovations that have led to the successes of the industry to date and that will propel it into the future – but also recognize the important challenges faced in many areas,” said John Cooksey, WAS Conference Manager.

The programme sessions for the conference will be broad and topical, including those traditionally offered at WAS and AAC conferences, along with 36 special topics that are relevant, and timely.

The event will include a trade show with over 135 exhibitors featuring the most up to date products and services that can be applied to aquaculture-related operations, services or research, Cooksey said.

“The abstract deadline for the meeting has now been extended to June 1, 2022; and there are a limited number of hotel rooms booked specifically for conference delegates, so we would encourage you to register and to arrange for your accommodations as soon as possible,” he added.

“The conference organizers and partners are looking forward to welcoming the aquaculture world to the ‘City of Legends’ this August.”
