Salmon producers have outperformed animal protein producers in the rankings.
Mowi has once again secured the top spot as the most sustainable animal protein producer, marking its fifth consecutive year of being recognized by the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index.
In the 2023 report, aquaculture companies, particularly salmon producers, outperformed land animal protein producers. Alongside Mowi, Lerøy Seafood Group and Grieg Seafood ASA, completed the top three for the index.
“This shows again that Mowi is at the forefront when it comes to sustainable food production,” said Mowi CEO Ivan Vindheim. “I am proud and humble to lead an organisation that is a recognized leader in sustainable food production.”
The Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index offers an in-depth assessment of the world’s largest meat, dairy, and farmed fish producers. It evaluates 60 companies based on environmental, social, and governance criteria, encompassing factors like greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and food safety.
