Listeria fears spark new recall on Ewing Seafoods smoked salmon products

As a precautionary measure, Ewing Seafoods is now recalling all of its batches of Organic Smoked Salmon and Original Recipe Smoked Salmon, as they may also be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

SalmonBusiness reported that warnings were issued last weekend about a product from the Belfast fishmongers, Ewing Seafoods, which may pass on the infection.

Yesterday a recall notice was extended by the Food Standards Agency on all pack sizes of its Organic Smoked Salmon products.

The recall follows an earlier warning about 100g or 200g size packs of a particular batch. Now all batches are being recalled as an extra precaution.

According to the Food Standards Agency website, Ewing Seafoods has issued point of sale notices which will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

Ewing Seafoods was not available for comment when contacted by SalmonBusiness.
