Agrosuper, the parent company of salmon-farming Los Fiordos, has reported a strengthened net profit for its aquaculture business over the first nine months of 2016 despite lower turnover.

Company net profit soared to USD34.2 million, 130 percent over a year ago, after a focus on costs and finding customers to help curb distribution costs.

The parent company reported Wednesday that its aquaculture unit posted an EBIT of USD 44.5 million, or more than double the USD 18.6 million of a year ago.

Income from ordinary activities fell to USD 183.5 million for the first three quarters, or down from USD205.6 million in 2016.

Los Fiordos sells a number of brands that include the popular Super Salmon.
