New Zealand King Salmon appointed Alan Cook as chief operating officer.

With 20 years’ senior management experience in the aquaculture industry, Cooks’s career has seen him work in salmon farming on both coasts of Canada, Chile and in Washington State on the US west coast.”

Most recently, as Vice President – Fish for Marel, a leading provider of commercial food processing equipment, Cook has developed important insights on best practice seafood processing and information management, while maintaining strong ties to salmon farming.

“I am really excited about the opportunity to work in New Zealand and working with a team that is as passionate about salmon farming as I am,” said Cook. “I started my career farming king salmon and always hoped I would have the opportunity to work with the species again.”

The seasoned fish farmer joins the business as NZ King Salmon prepares for research into open ocean salmon farming and is expected to commence in February 2019.

“We’re delighted to welcome Alan to the company. Alan brings an invaluable portfolio of experience across salmon farming and processing to contribute to achieving our vision for aquaculture to be one of New Zealand’s greenest industries providing sustainable, nutritious food for the future,” says Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Grant Rosewarne.
