Marine Harvest employee dies after found lifeless

Police investigating death of a man in his 50s.

The man was found lifeless between the fleet and the boat at Marine Harvest salmon farm in the county of Trøndelag, Norway.

“This is a tragic event, and our thoughts go to relatives and his closest colleagues. We ask for understanding that we can not comment further on this right now,” said head of company communications in Marine harvest, Ola Helge Hjetland, to local newspaper Namdalsavisa. 

The body is being sent to city of Trondheim for autopsy. The police is also investigating the matter.

“It is still uncertain what has happened. We do not know if this was a natural death or an accident. We must wait for the report from Trondheim before we can say anything more about the cause of death,” said Erik Stovner, head of police at Nærøy and Vikna police station.

The Norwegian Labour Inspection has been informed about the incident.
