Marine Harvest Kritsen site to be demolished

The French smoked salmon plant owned by Marine Harvest is to be demolished.

In July, the plant-based in Landivisiau (Finistère) in Brittany, France was set alight by a fire, with all subsequent jobs and operations up in smoke.

According to Ouest France, during a city council meeting, an offical said the demolitiom of the site should take place fairly quickly.

However, Union Representative, Émile Turlan (Citizens Union) said that he was concerned over the lack of information for those who had lost jobs and that Marine Harvest would not rebuild the Landivisian plant. “The deafening silence of the institutions worries me a lot,” he added.

Landivisiau mayor, Laurence Claisse, responded that: “the city will do everything to keep Kritsen in Landivisiau.”

To cope with end-of-year orders, the company announced plans to operate its Morpol plant in Saône-et-Loire.
