Men arrested over kidnapping drivers in order to steal salmon from truck

Chile’s bandits targeted vehicle with two tonnes of fish on board.

BioBio Chile reports that a truck driving delivering salmon from the Magallenes, Southern Chile, was targeted by bandits. The truck was en route to the salmon hub of Port of San Antonio.

Local police arrested two people who allegedly used a firearm to kidnap the driver and his companion. However, police managed to track the truck via GPS and retrieve them.

The victims did not have any injuries, police said, but the firearm used has not been retrieved. Cargo and truck were returned to their owner.

The arrested men, one aged 36, the other 41, are now awaiting trial.
