Contractor Juan Ruiz Gallardo died at AquaChile site, another is in the hospital with injuries.
On-site mortality occurred died while ropes were being loaded from a feed barge at an AquaChile salmon farm, reports El Divisadero.
Diving supervisor Juan Ruiz Gallardo died at the scene in the southern Chile region of Aysén. Another diver Maikel Salazar Rojas suffered injuries and is now being treated in hospital. Both worked for the company Servicios Marítimos Marinetech.
In a statement, AquaChile wrote that it was “very sad about this event. In the face of these painful events, representatives of AquaChile have contacted the contractor company. We accompanied the family of Juan Ruiz Gallardo in these difficult times and we gave them all our support”.
“Along with regretting this accident, the company will collaborate with the investigation carried out by the authorities and, in addition, we will carry out our own internal investigation, to avoid events like this being repeated in the future,” AquaChile added,
