Mowi agrees on $1.5 million to settle “false marketing” lawsuit

Mowi USA’s smoked salmon brand Ducktrap River of Maine reaches deal.

Law 360 reports that Mowi has agreed to pay USD 1.3 million to settle a class action lawsuit.

In January, a lawsuit was brought against Mowi’s Ducktrap River of Maine, alleging that the marketing of the products as ‘sustainably sourced’ was “false, deceptive, and misleading”.

SalmonBusiness asked Mowi why it had settled.

“We have no comment at this point,” said Mowi group communications director Ola Helge Hjetland.
