MMC First Process has signed a significant contract with Mowi-backed farmed Nova Sea to design and deliver holding tank systems, allowing the company to relocate its waiting pens from sea to land.

This move aims to improve fish quality and follows similar projects MMC First Process has completed for Bremnes Seashore and Chilean company Australis.

“Our systems enable a stress-free unloading of the tanks, which is crucial to achieving the high quality that our customers demand,” said Frank Edvard Vike, CSO Handling at MMC First Process, in a press release.

“We have worked together with Nova Sea over a longer period of time to tailor the solution based on their needs and environmental considerations. Such cooperation helps to further develop us as a supplier of such solutions.”

The advanced holding tanks will carefully control all environmental parameters, ensuring fish welfare and biomass security. The project includes six holding tanks, each with a capacity of over 2,600 cubic meters, capable of handling 2,050 tons of salmon.

“This is a substantial investment in new technology,” said Espen Gleinsvåg, Project Manager at Nova Sea.
