Mowi Scotland official suppliers to the British royal family.

Mowi Scotland has announced the renewal of its Royal Warrant to supply fresh salmon to His Majesty King Charles III, securing its place among a select group of companies recognized for their service to the royal household. This news comes amidst a significant shakeup in the Royal Warrant list, which has seen iconic brands such as Cadbury lose their prestigious endorsements.

While the late Queen Elizabeth II granted 620 warrants during her reign, these were voided following her passing in 2022. Over 100 businesses, including Cadbury, failed to retain their warrants in the latest review, highlighting the heightened scrutiny of suppliers under King Charles III. The King is believed to prioritize factors such as sustainability and alignment with royal values when granting warrants, reflecting his commitment to environmentally conscious and health-driven choices.

Ben Hadfield, Mowi Scotland’s COO, commented on the achievement:
“It is an honour that Mowi Scotland is the only supplier of fresh salmon to His Majesty The King. The Royal Warrant, proudly displayed on our salmon boxes sold worldwide, is globally recognized and lends even greater provenance to the Mowi story.”

The Royal Warrant, a tradition dating back to the 15th century, is granted to companies that have supplied goods or services to the royal household for a minimum of five years. Its retention is not guaranteed, as evidenced by the removal of Cadbury’s warrant after 170 years.

Mowi Scotland has held its warrant since 1990 and continues to leverage its royal association to enhance its global reputation. Meanwhile, Cadbury, celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, has expressed disappointment but “fully respects the decision,” according to a spokesperson.
