Multiexport Foods harvests salmon from Magallanes for first time

Salmon farmer posts milestone in new sites in Chilean Antarctic that’ll produce up to 18,000 tonnes a year.

In a press release, Multiexport Foods writes that on December 12, it harvested of the first of its three salmon farming sites in the Magallanes region.

The region will produce 18,000 tonnes of salmon in the area.

Also in the Magallanes Region, Multiexport Foods’ and Blumar’s joint processing plant is in an advanced stage of construction, it wrote.

Chilean salmon farmers announced in October that they are joining forces to build a 40,000 tonnes a year facility under the new name Entrevientos, which will begin operations at the end of the first quarter of 2020.
