Bjørn-Erik Stabell to become Norwegian Seafood Council’s UK Country Director
The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) has appointed Bjørn-Erik Stabell as its seafood envoy to the United Kingdom, effective September 1. Stabell, currently Strategy and Sustainability Manager and Key Account Manager for whitefish, has held multiple roles within the NSC, including a previous posting as seafood envoy to Spain.
“The UK is a very important market for Norwegian seafood. Together with my local colleague Bojana Dos Santos, my colleagues at the Seafood Council in Tromsø, and the Norwegian exporters, I am looking forward to embarking on such an exciting assignment as this,” Stabell said. “It will be fun to create something together with strong and skilled players in both Norway and the UK.”
He succeeds Victoria Braathen, who has led the NSC’s UK operations since 2022. Børge Grønbech, Director of Global Operations at the NSC, highlighted Stabell’s background in whitefish strategy, sustainability, and international market experience as key factors in his selection.
“It is a privilege to be able to choose from so many talented applicants. In the end, we landed on Bjørn-Erik, who has a very strong background and very relevant experience for the work we will be doing in the UK going forward,” Grønbech said.
Braathen will return to the NSC’s headquarters in Tromsø. “Victoria has been an outstanding representative of the Norwegian seafood industry during her stay. We thank her for her strong contribution and welcome her back,” Grønbech added.
Other NSC appointments
The NSC has also completed the hiring process for new seafood envoys to Germany and Portugal, with official announcements expected by the end of April. The new Germany envoy will begin on June 1, replacing Kristin Pettersen, while the Portugal envoy will start on August 1, following Trond Rismo’s return to the NSC headquarters.
