Nova Sea CEO steps down after nearly six years in role.
Tom Eirik Aasjord will step down as chief executive of Norwegian salmon farming company Nova Sea with effect from 1 April 2025, the company announced Monday.
Aasjord, 44, has been part of Nova Sea since 2013, serving first as CFO before being appointed CEO in 2019. He has been on sick leave for a period and is resigning for personal reasons.
“After more than ten years of commuting, I have reached the conclusion that this is the right time for me to step down,” Aasjord said in a statement. “We have developed Nova Sea into one of the best-run aquaculture companies in the world. My decision is independent of the ongoing process the company is involved in.”
In January, Nova Sea’s majority owner, Vigner Olaisen AS, announced it had agreed to sell its stake in the company to Mowi. The proposed transaction is currently under review by competition authorities.
Until regulatory approval is granted, the company will continue to operate independently. Chair Aino Olaisen will serve as executive chair in the interim.
“It is with some sadness that we say goodbye to Tom Eirik,” Olaisen said. “He has been a forward-leaning and skilled leader through calm and storm alike. I want to thank him for his tireless work for the company, our salmon, and our people.”
