In January, the salmon farmer Nova Sea ordered two electric working boats from Folla Maritime. Now the first boat has been handed over, christened, and has arrived on site.

The boat is a Follawork 35 Electric and is christened “El-Ida”. The location it will go on is Storvika, Bolga, Northern Norway.

“We are very pleased with the new boat so far. It is of exactly the same type of workboat that we have ordered of Folla Maritime in the past, only electric. Compared to our other workboats, it has fewer emissions and little noise, which makes working life better for people, the environment and fish,” said Nova Sea technical manager Odd Stensland in a press release.

Follawork 35 electric is a 10.65m long and five-meter wide working boat. It has a battery pack of 330 kwh, with electric propulsion and electric thrusters.

“The boat makes little to no noise, has little emissions, and is easy to maneuver. In addition, it will be much easier to carry out service, as El-Marin who has delivered the battery pack can run system updates from their office. The trip from Brønnøysund to Bolga showed us that the battery pack holds what we expected in terms of range,” concluded Stensland.

Folla Maritime said it was very with the cooperation they’ve had with Nova Sea and looks forward to starting work on the second electric boat. Like the first one, it will also be built-in full at their shipyard in Flatanger, Central Norway.
