Shetland shipowner orders second vessel.

In a press release, Skagen Ship Consulting writes that Ocean Farm Services (OFS) has ordered a service vessel from them.

It is the second order from the Shetland based shipowner. The service, inspection and net cleaning vessel is designed by Marin Design, a company founded in 2006, but which has had its roots in the ship building business since 1923. Skagen Ship Consulting facilitates all types of turnkey maritime projects.

The new build will join OFS’ fleet and make the third with the same design as sister vessel “Ocean Apollo” (expected to be delivered in January 2021) and the already operating “Aurora Quest”.

The new Marin Design MD-50-SV build is 14.9 m long, 7m wide with a draught of 3.1m.

The newbuild will mostly be doing net cleaning for salmon farming companies. The vessel will be built by Skagen Ship Consulting at Etkin Marin in Istanbul, Turkey. Delivery is planned for Q3 2021.

North Isles Marine and Aurora Marine merged to form Ocean Farm Services to provide a broader service to the aquaculture industry in the North Sea in 2018.
