On Monday afternoon, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) announced a suspected case of Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) at Salmar’s Bondøya site in Nærøysund municipality, Trøndelag.
The Bondøya site is operated by Salmar Oppdrett AS and Salmar Farming AS. The suspicion arose on July 26, following PCR analysis conducted after sample collection at the location.
In response to the suspicion, restrictions have been imposed to prevent the spread of infection. These include a ban on the movement of fish, eggs, and milt without special permission.
If the suspicion is confirmed, Mattilsynet may order the site, or parts of it, to be emptied.
