Pilot and five passengers – including four Salmones Camanchaca workers – killed after private jet crashes into house

Plane crashed into family home moments after taking off.

The aircraft had just taken off from La Paloma, a private airport near the port city Puerto Montt, Chile, when it plummeted from the sky at approximately 11am local time, reports BioBioChile.

The small plane, a Beechcraft Model 99 which was headed south to the city of Chaitén, when it got out of control, completely destroying a family residence. Noone was at home.

Salmon farmer Salmones Camanchaca issued a statement on Tuesday evening, confirming the identities of four workers travelling in the plane.

In total, six people were on the aircraft, five men and one woman.

In a statement, the company stated that “we regret to report that today a tragic plane crash occurred in which our colleagues were traveling José Vidal, Leonel Soto, Erico Oyarzo and Gonzalo Navarro, Cabudahue and Porcelana farms, which ended with fatal consequences. ”

They added that “as a company and human team we do not find tremendously affected and deeply regret what happened, our company staff is already accompanying family members and their work colleagues, giving them all the necessary support in these difficult times.”

They added that “this is a big blow for our Camanchaca family and we will be attentive to the next steps and we will keep them informed.”

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
