Frøy Group to invest EUR 18 million into transformation.

The Frøy Group has entered into a 2.5-year agreement with a “large Norwegian salmon farmer” for the lease of a specialized delousing vessel. Frøy has purchased the offshore vessel “Scandi Texel” from the supply shipping company Dof to be used for this purpose.

NTS announced the project in a stock exchange announcement on Friday morning.

The project, including the purchase of a boat, the redevelopment and installation of the high-capacity delousing system, has a total investment framework of EUR 18 million. The vessel is expected to go into operation during August 2021.

According to Dof, the 15-year-old “Skandi Texel” is 69.5m long and 16.4m wide. The vessel has a deadweight of 2,885 tonnes and can accommodate 24 people.

Frøy wrote that the deal is “a major vote of confidence” and “confirmation of the growth potential of the market”.

The agreement is in addition to Frøy’s ongoing new construction programme. Frøy will take delivery of six new wellboats and eight new service vessels during the period of 2021– 2023.
