Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) supplier Pure Salmon Technology, has acquired the intellectual property assets of Billund Aquaculture Denmark.

Alongside securing exclusive rights to purchase Billund Aquaculture Australia and Billund Aquaculture Chile, the deal is expected to enhance Pure Salmon Technology’s RAS technology portfolio and expand its market reach.

The company will integrate Billund Aquaculture Denmark’s proprietary technologies, including its Fixed Bed technology, into its operations, enabling it to offer a broader range of sustainable aquaculture solutions. This acquisition also gives Pure Salmon Technology access to the technical documentation of Billund’s installation base, allowing it to service Billund’s previous customers, according to a press release on Thursday.

“This acquisition enhances our market-leading technology capabilities,” said Kent Rasmussen, CEO of Pure Salmon Technology. “The exclusive rights to acquire Billund Aquaculture Australia and Chile further solidify our commitment to expanding in key global markets.”

Pure Salmon Technology plans to use this acquisition to drive innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture industry, aligning with its mission to promote healthy fish production with reduced environmental impact. The company will also hire additional former Billund employees as part of the transition process.

The company aims to expand its presence in Australasian and South American markets through the potential acquisitions of Billund Aquaculture Australia and Chile, leveraging their expertise in aquaculture engineering and project execution.
