Q1: Lower salmon prices brings Los Fiordos dip in revenue

Salmon-farmer Los Fiordos, owned by Chilean agribusiness group Agrosuper, reported 22,4% decrease in revenue i Q1 for the aquaculture division. This was due to lower international salmon prices, as well as lower volume sales, according to Aqua.

Gross margin reached 36,6%, while EBITDA margin came in at 26,1% for the aquaculture division. This was due to focus on effiency and productivity, as well as favorable sanitary environment. Operating profit before fair value adjustment related to biological assets was USD 14,4Mn.

According to the company, good sanitary environment together with cost reduction and process optimization, give a promising 2018 outlook.

Los Fiordos sells a number of brands that include the popular Super Salmon. Agrosuper is also a large chicken and pig processor.
