Russia’s veterinary service has been locking out Chilean fish.

In a press release, Sernapesca writes that as of September 17, export restrictions on Ventisqueros salmon products to Russia have been lifted.

The salmon farmer was part of a group of Chilean salmon farmers locked out of the Russian Federation.

Blumar and Cermaq still have temporary restrictions, according to Rosselkhoznadzor.

In February this year, the Director of Sernapesca Alicia Gallardo met her Russian counterpart, the director of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Service) Sergey Dankvert in a high stakes face-to-face meeting in Moscow.

Gallardo said: “This is the continuation of a work that we have been strengthening since February of this year, where we are increasing the exchange of information, holding a series of bilateral meetings of a technical nature in order to provide maximum guarantees regarding the strict safety controls that we carry out as a health authority in the field of aquaculture exports”.

“It should be recalled that in the context of the collaborative work between competent authorities in Chile and Russia, on the 3rd September, they signed a cooperation protocol on the prevention and control of fish and mollusc diseases in aquaculture and the safety of their products,” added Sernapesca.
