SalMar’s outgoing CFO reveals new job

He goes from salmon farming to energy.

Earlier today, it became known that SalMar’s CFO, Faroese Gunnar Nielsen, is retiring from his job . The 45-year-old has been employed by SalMar since April this year.

A couple of hours later, it was announced where he will work after his short SalMar career. The Faroese energy company Effo has hired Gunnar Nielsen as a new director, the website VP.fo reported.

Before his job at SalMar, Gunnar Nielsen was CFO at Bakkafrost, and he also has work experience from other large Faroese companies. He has a degree from Copenhagen Business School.

“We are very happy to welcome Gunnar to Effo. Gunnar has good competence and a lot of experience in working life, and we are happy to start working together, as we aim to increase the efficiency of Effo even more,” Janus Thomsen, committee member of Effo, said.

“Effo is one of the most profitable companies in the Faroe Islands, and I am both excited and grateful for the offer,” Gunnar Nielsen said.

Nielsen will start his new the job on 1 January 2023.
