The words are from media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, and they certainly capture the ambitions of our new venture, Salmon Business.
Salmon Business was launched August 1, and the first month of operation brought 62,511 pageviews from over 90 different countries, of which the most significant were Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Chile and the USA, according to Google Analytics.
This is in line with our expectations, and we hope to double or triple the traffic within the next six months, to capture a position among the leading international online news services for the seafood segment.
Longer term, our ambitions for Salmon Business are to achieve at least twice the traffic of iLaks.no at 90,000 to 100,000 unique users every month.
How are we going to achieve this?
First of all, through writing relevant and engaging stories from all parts of the salmon farming value chain. Unique content is king, and certainly the main driver behind the growing traffic. Secondly, distribution through social media and also capitalizing on the superior distribution of iLaks.no.
We’ve just started. And we’re looking forward to the coming months.
