Cooke buys one of Latin America’s largest shrimp companies

Cooke Inc complets deal for Seajoy Seafood Corp.

“We are in the process of getting everything approved, but we have basically bought one of the world’s largest shrimp operations,” said CEO Glenn Cooke back in December.

Cooke Inc, the parent company of Cooke Aquaculture (one of the largest salmon farmers in the world), is now in the shrimp farming game after buying Seajoy Seafood Corp which has operations in Honduras and Nicaragua. Its products are sold to customers in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

“The acquisition of Seajoy is an important element in our focus on product diversification to meet our customers’ needs,” said Glenn Cooke in a statement on the company’s site.

Cooke said the terms of the transaction have not been disclosed as both companies are private, family-owned businesses.
