Salmon farmer uses ROV to find and identify missing dead person

Stormy weather caused a vessel to sink, leaving one dead and six rescued, reports Aqua.cl.

Authorities were alerted when the remaining crew were spotted on a lifeboat by workers at a nearby salmon farm in Los Lagos, Aysén, southern Chile.

One of the crew was recorded as missing. On Tuesday, salmon farmer AquaChile informed authortities that it had, through a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV), located and identified the dead person.

The head of public relations of the Maritime Governance of Aysén, second lieutenant Cristóbal Ruiz said that “each operator and worker of the salmon farms, today are a fundamental tool in the operations of the search and rescue service”.
